How to Reset the Oil Life on a 2021 GMC Sierra
After completing the engine oil and filter change:
- Turn the ignition on.
- Use the Driver Information Center controls to locate the Oil Life display.
- Select the oil life reset option.
- Confirm the reset when prompted.
- Verify that the oil life display has returned to 100%.
Depending on the truck’s equipment, the exact controls used to access and reset the oil life display can vary.
The important thing is to verify that the oil life monitor reads 100% after the oil change and reset are complete.
Important: Resetting the oil life monitor does not change the engine oil. The system should only be reset after the proper engine oil and filter service has been performed.
